Follow these steps to properly adjust the vice, gauge wings, cutting depth, and milling cutter-tracer point spacing for the Bianchi 106 key cutting machine.
Adjusting the Vice on the 106
The Bianchi 106 is equipped with 4-sided reversible jaws (A-C and B-D), allowing different key types to be cut without adapters.
- Side A – Flat jaw for cruciform keys (except Y and T-shaped keys)
- Side B – Wedge jaw for double-bit keys
- Side C – Flat jaw for flat keys
- Side D – Wedge jaw (upper part) for double-bit keys
Steps to Adjust the Vice:
- Loosen the jaw by turning the lever counterclockwise (X).
- Press the lever (Y) at the base of the clamp to lift it.
- Lift and rotate the block (F) 180° to the required position.
Adjusting the Gauge Wings
Important: Turn OFF the machine and disconnect the power before performing this adjustment.
Steps to Adjust the Gauge Wings:
- Place the all-purpose plate in the jaws in Position A, ensuring the lower backstop is against the left side.
- Rotate the gauging rod (16) until the wings of gauge (L) fit into the upper stops.
- If the wings do not fit:
- Loosen nut (G) that holds the wings.
- Slide the wings along the rod until they align correctly.
Checking and Adjusting the Cutting Depth
Important: Turn OFF the machine and disconnect the power before performing this adjustment.
Steps to Adjust the Cutting Depth:
- Place the all-purpose plate (J) in the jaws set to Position A.
- Unlock the carriage, move it upward until the plate reaches the tracer point.
- Move the milling cutter manually—it should touch the edge of the plate but not block it.
- If the cutter is blocked:
- Loosen the screw and adjust the tracer manually using the lateral nut.
- Ensure the cutting depth is correct, then tighten the nut.
- Repeat this process whenever you change the milling unit.
Checking and Adjusting the Milling Cutter - Tracer Point Spacing
Important: Turn OFF the machine and disconnect the power before performing this adjustment.
Steps to Adjust the Milling Cutter-Tracer Point Spacing:
- Place the all-purpose plate in the jaws set to Position A, ensuring the lower backstop is against the left side.
- Move the carriage towards the machine, shifting left or right until the milling cutter and tracer point fit into the V-groove of the plate.
- Move the milling cutter manually—it should touch the edge of the plate but not block it.
- If needed:
- Loosen nut (1) and adjust the tracer position until the cutter is correctly spaced.
- Tighten nut (1) to lock the tracer point in place.
